"On any given night in San Francisco, a fancy, imported dance company may be taking the stage at Zellerbach Hall or Yerba Buena....while the Scott Wells Company danced on the walls, ceiling, kitchen and doorways at 848 Community Space. Interestingly enough, it was the Wells dancers who triumphed artistically, not in spite of but because of their confines....The nearly claustrophobic performance space brought more than dangerous intimacy with Wells' brand of dance, which is more about hurling oneself through space than pointing one's toes. What was also apparent was the mastery of the ebb and flow of these dynamic explosions, the wisdom in the transitions and the profound sense of community and relationship implied by not only the physical action, but the eye contact involved.
